Pandora Batteries
AN INSIGHT INTO PANDORA BATTERIES

Now, if you have followed the guide towards making the Magic Memory Stick and are trying to install the custom firmware you probably need to read this small tutorial on Pandora Batteries. If you haven't yet read the tutorial on making the Magic Memory Stick read that first.

Once you have your Magic Memory Stick done the next steps involve the Pandora Battery. However, many people ignore what a Pandora Battery really is.

When downgrading a PSP, Pandora Batteries are essential. These batteries do not work like normal batteries; they are not used for gaming or other similar. The particular feature that makes Pandora Batteries special is the ability to downgrade the firmware on any PSP at any time. A Pandora Battery is a universal unbricker for all PSP's. For this reasons, Pandora Batteries are also called Service Batteries. These batteries are the key towards really unbricking your PSP; they allow the proper installation of custom firmware. Without Pandora Batteries, nothing would be possible.

First of all, it is important to remember that Pandora Batteries are only and only used for downgrading firmware on the PSP.

Now, if you are stuck in step 13 on the tutorial and are not sure what to do take this considerations:

  •          After you are done with installing the software into your Magic Memory Stick through the computer, and retrieving the PSP from USB mode, turn it off.
  •          Remove the battery cover and remove the normal battery. Remove the Magic Memory Stick as well.
  •          Introduce the Pandora Battery into the PSP; make sure the battery is charged. Also make sure the battery is placed properly.
  •     The green light on the PSP indicating power should go on. Then place the Memory Stick into its corresponding slot.
  •           The PSP should turn on automatically and display the menu shown on the tutorial.
  •          If the PSP does not turn on automatically, turn it on holding the R trigger button while you restart it. This should do it.
  •           If your PSP does not turn on check our FAQ page.
  •           Once the PSP shows the menu displaying firmware installation, press X to do so.

The process will take a little time. Afterwards, remove the Pandora Battery from the PSP and follow the next steps on the tutorial.
